Let’s go Analog

I settled in at my favorite Evanston coffee shop (see the Third Places post) for a productive afternoon yesterday. I time blocked what I needed to do, and… I did it. And it was less challenging to stay focused than usual. Why?

I had forgotten to put on my Apple Watch in the morning. No texts popped up on my wrist as I was looking for any reason to not work on my finance case. No emails came through with event announcements as I created a storyboard for a case competition. It was so much easier to get into a “flow state” without the periodic distractions of a new notification on my watch. This could be a game changer. (No shade at Apple, as I will definitely still use my Apple Watch for workouts)

But…how long do we look for new solutions before we consider taking something away that may solve the problem?
