Life celebrations

On Friday night, I got to celebrate one of my best friends’ birthdays (with champagne + fries, delicious food, and a wine bar).

AND I got to celebrate another best friend’s last day at her (now former!) job as she takes on an exciting new opportunity with a fast-growing start-up.

AND I got to celebrate another friend visiting Chicago by laughing endlessly at a wine bar.

My heart was so full to celebrate my friends and be so satisfied with where we are in life right now. For too long, we’ve focused on celebrating the “big” things – engagements, weddings, babies. Don’t get me wrong, I love celebrating those things, too. And I’m so grateful for the people who celebrated mine and my partner’s engagement and wedding with us. I’m also happy that the royal “we” as a society are expanding our view on what parts of life we celebrate.

What else can we celebrate? New jobs, birthdays, running their first race, starting an Etsy store, leaving a toxic relationship, starting therapy (if they choose to share), being persistent during a tough period, or even friendship anniversaries. There are so many options.
